Knitting: October 2021

Here is a look at what I’m working on in October.

FINISHED

The move!!! Other than that I’ve got nothing to put here. Zip. Zilch. Nada. And that is ok. Because I’m happy to report that I finally have more things on the needles.

ON THE NEEDLES

Pictured from top to bottom and left to right: Rowan Hat, Turquoise Trail Pullover, top-down worsted weight cloak, fingering weight shawl, Turquoise Trail Cowl in two sizes and yarn that is going to be a new tee design very soon.

The Rowan Hat test knit (Ravelry link) is started and many of the testers are already finished! The Rowan Hat features knits, purls and simple cables on a background of stockinette stitch. Perfect for a quick gift! The Rowan Hat is a quick and easy knit. Written in 3 sizes – Child, Adult S/M and Adult L. Cables fully charted and written. The sample hats for this design are knit out of Malabrigo Rios in the colors Lettuce, Frank Ochre and Ravelry Red.

The Turquoise Trail Pullover test knit (Ravelry link) is going and I’ve pushed back the finish date for this one to January of 2022 in response to test knitter feedback. That means there is still a lot of time left on this test knit and I’d love to add you to my testers if this looks like a pattern you would like to help test. The sample pullover for this one (knit in my size!!!!) is out of Valley Yarns Charlemont (a very nice fingering weight wool/silk blend).

Here you see proof of actual knitting on that top-down worsted weight cloak design out of Knit Picks Simply Wool in a natural grey named Wodsworth. I’m looking forward to cooler weather so it will be nice and cozy to have this one on my lap while it grows.

I’m loving the feel of this fingering weight single-ply wool/silk blend as I work on a new fingering weight shawl out of Apothefaery Stunning Singles in the color Poinsettia. I cannot wait to wear this shawl!

I also cast on the Turquoise Trail Cowl in two sizes. I’m knitting the sample long version out of the same fingering weight Valley Yarns wool/silk blend as the Pullover in a different turquoise-blue shade. And I’m knitting the short version out of a deep turquoise DK from Old Rusted Chair yarns. The cowl uses the same cables and “cabochons” as the pullover. These cowls are super fun and quick projects. I’ve got them both on the needles and I’m loving both.

And I’m getting ready to start a new tee design for Spring 2022. I know it feels early. But it does make sense. I need to get it on the needles now so it can get through testing and tech editing in time. I have a name for this one already and just need to figure out the other details so I can get it going too.
