Knitting: Gift Ideas for Knitters

With the holidays fast approaching I’m making a quick list here of some of my favorite Gift Ideas for Knitters in 2021. These are things that I already own or would really like for a gift.

Most of the items on my list are tools or fun knitting themed pieces. Bonus points if they are both fun and functional! Without further ado (and in no particular order) here is my list for 2021.

Leather Ruler Bracelets

These are so cool. They look fun to wear and I love that they are useful too!

Sunrise Grove Knitting Needle Gauges

Sunrise Grove’s Knitting Needle Gauges are beautiful! I love them so much that I’ve partnered with them to make the two exclusive needle gauges in my knitting tool kits.

Vekkia Neck Reading Light

This Vekkia Neck Reading Light isn’t as exciting as some of my other favorites. But I really love mine and use it all the time.

Knitting Stitch Markers and Stitch Marker Sets

Kipster Knitting Bag

Kipster knitting bags from Zoe’s Bag Boutique are excellent knitting project bags. They are so well thought out and come in lots of different fabric choices. So far I have a Sugar Skull one and one with a sheep knitting. Fun! She’s got many different styles and sizes of bags available. You really can’t go wrong with any of her choices. Knitting Tool Kits

Knitting Tool Kits are also great gifts. Etsy has lots of great choices at different price points. As a side note, I was pleasantly surprised to find that two knitting tool kits from Tallgrass Knitting (my Esty shop) showed up in the first hits of my Etsy search for “knitting tool kits”. The Summer Prairie Knitting Tool Kit and the National Parks Knitting Tool Kit.

Knitting Themed Mugs

Knitting themed mugs are another great gift idea if your knitter is also a coffee or tea drinker. This quick Etsy search found lots of fun choices.

Knitting Books

There are lots of really great knitting books – pattern books, lifestyle books, stitch dictionaries, knitting essay books and so on. Unless it is a new publication or you have access to sneak a peek at your knitter’s shelf of books, it might be hard to know which books they are already own. And a knitter really only needs one copy of a particular book. So a gift card to either a LYS or Amazon would be a great way to let your knitter pick out their own books. I did find four new knitting books that caught my eye. Three of the four are new enough that most knitters won’t already have a copy!

Yarn!

Yarn might be the first thing you think of for your knitter. I’ve left it for last since it can be tricky. The great thing about yarn is that it is a consumable and your knitter will always need more of it. The less great thing about yarn is that you do need to know your knitter’s yarn preferences (fiber, color, weight, brand, etc). If you’re unsure, a gift card or certificate for yarn might be the perfect choice. Especially if you can support local! If your knitter has a LYS (local yarn store), a gift certificate from that shop is a great gift and supports local. A quick google search for “yarn stores near….” should help you find one and giving them a quick call is generally all it takes to order a gift card. If your knitter lives in a “yarn desert” (sort of like a food desert only with no yarn) there are lots of online yarn shopping choices. Some of my current favorite choices for buying yarn online include WEBS, Knit Picks, Jimmy Beans Wool and The Loopy Ewe (links to each go directly to their gift card or gift certificate pages).

I hope sharing some of my favorite things this season helps you find a gift your knitter will love!
