Random: Geminate Podcast

So…this is something new. A good friend of mine, Sherri, is starting a podcast! It is Geminate Podcast about knitting, spinning, dyeing and other crafts in Mid-America. Sherri has been an avid podcast listener for years but has had a hard time finding podcasts based in her area. Mid-America in general and the KC area in particular have a thriving fiber community that rivals the rest of the country so she decided to start a podcast to highlight that!

And I’m helping co-host. We’ve already recorded 6 episodes. We’ve got lots and lots to talk about. In the episodes, we discuss types of knitting projects, new techniques, Mid-America fiber industry movers and shakers, our current projects, our finished projects, which finished pieces we’ve been wearing, what we’ve been watching or reading while we craft, projects that didn’t quite work out and why (we call these mulligans), our fantasy dream knitting and inspiration, what’s been on our table, board games that we’ve been playing, upcoming local crafting events and so on.

For the purposes of this podcast Sherri has decided to limit the fiber industry area that she covers to the Urban Dictionary definition of Mid-America: A large, vast consolidated region that makes up almost 2/3 of the United States’ total land area. It consists of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. And that’s plenty big enough!
