Knitting: November Projects

Here is a quick look at what I finished in the last month and what I’m working on in November.

FINISHED

The Springerle Cowl test knit finished and I released the pattern near the end of October. I’m thrilled with the response to one! Especially the mention in Miss Babs newsletter here.

The Ren Fest Shawl test knit also finished and I released the pattern in early November. I really, really love this one! I keep looking for reasons to wear it out and about.

The Candy Cane Cowl is in test knitting now! The Candy Cane Cowl uses knits, decreases and yarn overs in a simple lace to evoke one of my favorite bits of the Holiday season. This one is a lot of fun to knit. I’ve got a great group of testers who are moving fast on this one (in part because I needed a quick deadline to get the pattern ready for release in time for holiday knitting and in part because they are just great knitters and testers).

The Winter Birch Sweater is off the needles now too and in the works to be released in early January! I’m very grateful for the yarn support I received from the Brown Sheep Company for this one in their Prairie Spun DK in the color Rain Cloud. I really enjoyed the loft while knitting with this yarn and am amazed at how warm the sweater feels.

The sample knitting for the Lavinia Shawlette is also finished. Now I’m in process of final edits and tech edits to get the pattern ready to call for testers in the near future.

And finally I took some time over a weekend to pull together this tiny baby hat out of the leftover yarns from the Candy Cane Cowl sample cowls shown above. Our high school and middle school Band Director is expecting her first child in the near, near future. I hope she appreciates this cute little holiday hat for their new addition.

ON THE NEEDLES

I’ve spent a lot of hours over the last month finishing up all the bits I mentioned above. On top of that I traveled at the beginning of October, played catch up after traveling and worked many, many hours updating old patterns to my current standards. So I don’t have all that much on my needles right now.

The first of two shawls in my upcoming Malachite Shawl Series is nearly finished. And I’m ready to cast on the second as soon as the needles are empty. I’m working these shawls out of Dream in Color Jilly in the colorway Green Lantern on US Size 2 (2.75 mm) needles. I really love the feel and beautiful deep color of this yarn.

I finally took some time to cast on my Starting Point in the very, very beautiful Rustic Fingering Gradient from Neighborhood Fiber Company in the Shades of Vermillion color.

I do have plans for many designs that I’m hoping to get on the needles over the next month. Six different projects speak to me from the yarns pictured here. I can’t wait for a few free days to cast on all the things!

Plus I’m also looking forward to casting on project from other Indie Designers during the Indie Design Gift-A-Long that is scheduled to run from November 26th through December 1st this year!
