New Release: Springerle Cowl

The Springerle Cowl is now available! The Springerle Cowl features basic decreases and yarn overs to create the feel of pressed cookies on a background of reverse stockinette. This cowl is designed with yarn support I received from Miss Babs in their Kaweah DK yarn.

The Short Version sample cowl is knit in Miss Babs Kaweah in the color Dark Roast and used about 100 g or 245 yards.

The Long Version sample cowl is knit in Miss Babs Kaweah in the color Russet and used almost all of 115 g or 280 yards. I’m so grateful for this yarn support and the encouragement I received from Miss Babs for this design! Miss Babs even mentioned it in their Early November newsletter here. Sometimes as a designer it can feel like you live in a vacuum so having the tangible support of a company you like and respect is truly valuable and appreciated.

One cable interconnects the shapes into an all-over pattern. Named Springerle for the traditional cookies our family makes every year at the holidays. Directions for both the Long and Short versions are fully written and charted as two separate patterns giving you two cowl patterns for the price of one! The Springerle Cowl is available through Ravelry and LoveKnitting!

If you’re interested in baking the cookies too, I’ve shared our family recipe in this blog post – https://tamaramoots.com/2019/10/17/personal-springerle-recipe/
