Knitting: May/June 2021

Here is a look at what I’ve finished over the last month and what I’m working on in May and June.

FINISHED

The Frida Tee (Ravelry link) pattern is now live! If you don’t use Ravelry, here is the link to the Frida Tee at Tallgrass Knitting (my Etsy shop). The Frida tee is a hybrid top-down tee with flower bud cable panels that frame the top and bottom of the tee. Tee includes waist and hip shaping for a flattering fit. Written in 8 sizes.

The Agave Cowl (Ravelry link) pattern is now live! If you don’t use Ravelry, here is the link to the Agave Cowl at Tallgrass Knitting (my Etsy shop). The Agave Cowl uses knits, purls and simple cables to evoke the agave plant.

And I finished my Water Lilies Cowl in linen (Ravelry link) for the Inspired by Art MAL.

ON THE NEEDLES

There’s a whole bunch of stuff on the needles right now! The Prairie Fire Shawl test knit is almost finished. The Citrus Shoulder Cowl test knit is about to start too! The sample Citrus Shoulder Cowl out of bright orange fingering weight yarn by Treasure Goddess Yarn in the color Lusty Wench was a complete joy to work with during the grey and chilly days of this spring. The Beach Glass Cowl test knit is in progress. Testers are finishing their Beach Glass Cowls sooooooooo fast that I’m having trouble keeping up! This cowl uses the same cables as the Beach Glass Pullover and I’m really loving all the beautiful projects.

That makes three tests knits already going or almost going right now. You might think that is plenty to keep me busy. And you’d be right. But I did not stop there. I’ve also been casting on new designs. Five new designs to be exact. As you can see in the picture above, some of the projects are just barely on the needles. To get this far I’ve already worked through the pattern math in multiple sizes and completed countless test swatches and packed project bags with all the yarn, needles, bit and pieces. In the order pictured above: a second Citrus Shoulder Cowl sample out of Sparkle Toes Treasure Goddess Yarns, a fingering weight sweater out of Valley Yarns Charlemont, an Aran weight sweater out of Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride, a worsted weight cloak out of Knit Picks Simply Wool and a DK weight shawl out of Brown Sheep Stratosphere.

And finally I’ve been working on one more design in progress – the sport weight Art Deco Cowl in two sizes that I’m sharing about here and there in the Inspired by Art MAL. I’m glad to have each of these projects started and ready for mindless knitting this summer.
