Here is a look at what I’ve finished over the last month and what I’m working on in January. Please note the design and test knit links throughout this post are to the Ravelry unless they say otherwise. Yarn links are to yarn companies. Etsy links are to my shop.
FINISHED
The Salt Water Taffy Cowl pattern is live! The Salt Water Taffy Cowl evokes the shape and twist of old-fashioned pulled salt water taffy candies all wrapped up and twisted at the ends. Pattern uses simple cables, increases and decreases. Cables are charted and written. If you need to avoid Ravelry, here is the link to the Salt Water Taffy Cowl at Tallgrass Knitting (my Etsy shop). And we made Salt Water Taffy again as a family. We split the slightly cooled tray into three sections and the older teen helped pull it this time. That worked even better!
The Ponytail Hot Chocolate Hat pattern is released too! This ponytail variation is offered exclusively as a free gift to newsletter subscribers and you won’t find it anywhere else! You can sign up here for my newsletter to receive this exclusive gift, new pattern updates and exclusive discounts. The Ponytail Hot Chocolate Hat combines a simple cable with a mock cable in an all-over repeat and ends in a simple peek-a-boo opening. This pattern is written in 3 sizes – Child, Adult S/M and Adult L. I’m sharing this one in a special way.
And I finished one non-design knitting project. This is the one and only Indie Design Gift-A-Long 2020 project that I actually completed this year. I finished the Yippee Ki Yay boot cuffs by Laurie Beardsley out of a precious single skein of Malabrigo Arroyo in the color Archangel. I still love the others I chose for this year but I got side-tracked so they’ll have to wait for me to come back around to them later.
ON THE NEEDLES
The Beach Glass Sweater test knit just started. The Beach Glass Sweater combines a center front cable panel with top-down construction and a stockinette stitch body. The sweater is a simple top-down seamless raglan with positive ease and subtle shaping for a relaxed fit. Written in 8 sizes. Cables charted and written.
The Aria Hat test knit also just started too. The Aria hat features strong cables that evoke the repetition and variation of a single melody in an aria. Written in 3 sizes.
This upcoming cowl design out of Malabrigo Rios in the color Seco y Fresco is on the needles now too! As always, I love working with Rios. Plus I’m really happy with how the design is working out.
My next top-down tee design is coming right along too. I’m hoping to have this one ready for test knitting by the end of the month for a summer 2021 release. The sample tee for this one is knit in Knit Picks Shine Sport in a bright, clear red named Serrano (like the pepper).
One more cowl design is ready to cast on with the project notes, needles and yarn all in the bag. The yarn for this one is a beautiful hand-dyed skein of fingering weight 3-ply ZiaZen in the colorway Rise Up from Zia Woolz. (I just looked and don’t think she has this exact yarn in her online shop just now but she does have lots of other beautiful choices.) I picked this skein up in Albuquerque almost two years ago. I’ve been waiting for just the right project for this yarn and this is it!
That’s it for this month. As always, you can sign up here for my newsletter to receive new pattern updates and exclusive discounts. Please be kind to yourself and others. And take care!
