The Malachite Shawl and Malachite Cowl are now live! Please note the links throughout this post are to the Ravelry listings. I know the new look of Ravelry is really bothering some people, if this is the case for you I’m so sorry you are having to deal with it and hope they’ll have a solution in the near future. In the meantime, this was the push I needed to finally open Tallgrass Knitting (my Etsy Shop) – Malachite Shawl on Etsy, Malachite Cowl on Etsy.
The Malachite Shawl evokes the natural beauty of the mineral malachite in a vibrant green color with banded and whorled sections just as found in nature. The Malachite Shawl is a semi-circle worked from the top down with simple increases, garter stitch edging, banded sections that continue from the top all the way through the bottom edge and whorled lace repeats at the bottom. Lace is charted and written.
The Malachite Cowl is extra-long for a draped-scarf feel and uses the same lace and bands as the shawl. Lace is charted and written.
Both the Malachite Shawl and Malachite Cowl samples are knit out of Dream in Color Jilly in the colorway Green Lantern on US Size 2 (2.75 mm) needles. I really, really loved working with this yarn
As always, I really appreciated the extra eyes and hands of the test knitters on these two projects to get them ready for publication. Test knitters are such an important part of the design writing process. I truly value their time and work on a project. And I enjoy getting to know them in the threads.
