The Indie Design Gift-A-Long is in full swing over on Ravelry! The Indie Design Gift-A-Long is back for a 7th season and I’m excited to be participating as a designer again this year! The Knit-A-Long runs through December 31, 2019 with games, gifts, chatting and lots of fun!!
Knitters are welcome (and encouraged) to participate in GAL 2019 on the Ravelry threads and on the Instagram challenge too! You can share your progress on projects in the chat threads and enter your finished projects in the drawings for some pretty great prizes. Plus, if you are paying attention, you might be the first to answer one of the many contests and win a prize that way! I really love all the chatter and fun and sense of community in the threads! I have a hard time keeping up with all the chat but I really do love it.
The two main gifts that I’ve been knitting on this year are the Knitting at the Library Cowl and the InGENEous Mittens.
I almost never have time to knit things just for fun. That is one of the reasons I love the GAL – it helps me make it a priority to knit other people’s designs. Plus the added bonus of finished pretties to put in the holiday gift basket! And even if I get over-ambitious and don’t actually have time to knit all the beautiful designs that I find – I don’t live near enough to easily meet-up with other designers and buy them a cup of coffee. So, I like to think of it as a way to buy them a virtual cup of coffee (plus I get beautiful pattern in the process).
I was recently asked which GAL Along 2019 designers inspire me and why for an interview. That’s a hard question. There are 286 participating designers this year and so many great designs! My GAL 2019 Favorites bundle so far includes these designs (in no particular order): Beeswax Hat, Kilter, Sunburnt, Knitting at the Library Cowl, Goldmead, InGENEous Mittens, Inner Fire, Shh! Wrap, Hopcott Cowl, Gros Morne Cloak, Autumn Gold Shawl and Crown Point. And I’m sure I missed tons and tons of others because the there are a LOT of beautiful patterns to look through!
